Alumina precipitators had it’s seams coated to protect against caustic stress cracking.

The main function of the product during this repair is to introduce a temperature and chemical resistant barrier between the caustics and seams. Dura-Coat® Chemical 200HT has extremely high temperature and caustic resistance, and was quickly applied by roll.
